Our web host has some technical issues over the weekend so we didn't get the "It" list up in time but it's posted for those who want to see what they missed. We'll have a new post sometime today. Until then enjoy a nice spoof video of David Blaine.
This is interesting. All that money that YouTube, Napster and so on settled on with the labels hasn't made it too the artists yet.
"Artist managers and lawyers have been wondering for months when their artists will see money from the copyright settlements and how it will be accounted for," said lawyer John Branca, who has represented Korn, Don Henley, and The Rolling Stones, among others.
The labels
Record label sources said corporate bosses are still deciding on how best to split the money. In determining the payout, they said not every artist is owed money and it must be calculated with regard to the level of copyright infringement for each artist.

So after about a week with the website screwed up, basically offline the Nashville Feed is back. I think the todays post will have to be about website data management and what to do when it all goes to hell. Kind of like what happened here.
First thing you should be doing is making regular back up copies of the website and database. If I hadn't done that all the work done here would have been lost. We were able to recover all user accounts, posts and comments.
Second thing to do is get the website back up as soon as possible. With in a week we had lost almost two thirds of our daily traffic. I had not realized how quickly Google will remove you from their index. The site has dissappeared from simple searches that it had appeared on the first page. I'm curious to see how long it will take to return to previous levels.
The nice thing about all the problems that I had was that it forced me to upgrade the content management system software. The new version will allow new features and extentions to our website. So with that said, welcome to The Nashville Feed 2.0.
After being down for about a week we did an upgrade and data restore. The site is back but it's going to take a few days for us to get back in the swing of things.
Hopefully we will be posting new blogs. Thanks for sticking around.
The CMA Awards is tonight and I’m working back stage all day. There’s hasn’t been much time to post anything interesting or worth reading either.
Regular posts from me start again on Monday November 12th. This Friday the Weekend “It” List continues.
Later today make sure you watch ABC.com Live on the Red Carpet and afterward watch the 41st Annual CMA Awards.
With that I’ll see everybody for my next post next Monday Nov. 12.
I’m happy to announce the Nashville Feed online store is now up. It's a simple cafepress site but I've had good luck for a few years with it. T-shirts that locals and industry people will wear with pride. I have a few designs in the store with more coming soon.
Enjoy.
The Nashville Feed is embracing Country with our new podcast cleverly titled “The Nashville Country Feed”. The original podcast isn’t going away either in fact there are two shows on deck ready to go live. And we’re not cutting back on the non-country music and culture coverage, think of this as a new addition to the “The Nashville Feed” family.
The new podcast starts with a live show August 23 (that’s tonight btw) with signer songwriter Jeremy Spillman (MySpace). He is signed with Universal Music Publishing Group and has had songs recorded by talented artists like Lee Ann Womak, Trace Adkins and Eric Church.
The show is at Edgehill Studios Café (Map) at 7:30pm and there’s no cover. Yes, I know tonight is the big Capital Nashville pub crawl on Demonbreun. So I suggest to come out to Edgehill for Jeremy then after the show head on down to the pub crawl which I believe ends with a free show from Dierks Bentley.
If you can't make the show you still can catch the podcast in a few days at country.nashvillefeed.com.
UPDATE: According to the Tennessean Dierks will take the stage on Demonbreun St at 8:30pm. Also if your only doing the pub crawl highly suggest catching Lady Antebellum at Tin Roof. They are amazing live.
