Benn Stebleton

Internet biographies typically consist of ridiculously irrelevant surveys on Myspace. I don’t believe that anyone has any real interest in knowing my favorite vegetable, or when I was most recently drunk, or if I have ever seen a ghost.
If that really matters to you, my favorite vegetable is chocolate, I have a nice buzz right now, and I haven’t seen a ghost. Nor have I seen the Easter Bunny, a Smurf, or God.
Of course, this is not at all relevant to Nashville Feed.
But I do understand that some readers might want to know a little about me to gain a better understanding of my perspective on cultural and media matters. I will try to keep any description of myself relevant to increasing that understanding.
I was born and raised in North Dakota. After bouncing around that area for too long, I moved to Seattle. There I obtained a degree in Visual Communications, with a focus in graphic design and advertising.
I worked as a graphic designer in the advertising industry for a few years before the dot com crash reduced me to working in a cubicle for some guy named Lumbergh. If you’ve ever worked in the office, I don’t have to tell you how soul crushing that environment is.
Disgusted with the suburban office park, I threw away the mid-middle class salary for the upper-lower class wage of non-profit work. After working with runaways and street youth for a while I grew bored enough with Seattle to pack up and move away from it.
The dart had landed on middle Tennessee. I soon found myself in a cheap hotel in Nashville. I secured a shitty little apartment in Antioch for a six-month lease and began pinballing though low paying jobs. Once my lease expired, I moved into the Belmont/Hillsboro area, where I would spend the remainder of my Nashville years. I also moved into the lower-middle class with steady employment, again serving runaways and street youth.
2006 was again time for change. I moved to Memphis, where I am currently pursuing a degree in journalism from the University of Memphis . I am also employed as a photographer for the school newspaper.
In addition to photography, and writing, I occasionally paint. I’m also a Beer Church minister.
Look me up on Myspace.
