How Do I Edit My MySpace Page?

Everybody seems to have a MySpace profile and wants to customize it. This is especially true for an artist that needs to stand out and brand their profile.

There are a lot of profile editors out there but each one adds their logo and links which make your profile look cheesy. I have run across some pretty nasty profiles the look all cluttered and busy. For an artist the key is the combination of your branding with clean interface which allows fans to find out all the information they need. If their web browser crashes before the page finishes loading the odds they will come back to listen and purchase music are slim.

That do you need to make a snappy good looking MySpace profile? First is time and patience, lots of both. MySpace is a mess of legacy html and style code that makes even the most advanced web designer cry. With that said you need to have a basic understanding of html and cascading style sheets (CSS). Also you need a website to host the images, little bit of graphic design skill and of course a MySpace profile.

Now you might say “I know a little bit of html but if this is hard for real web guys I’m over my head.” Well, that’s where I’m going to send you to a simple “how to” blog post where almost everything is done for you.

Mike Davidson is a web developer/designer co-founder of Newsvine.com who now works for MSNBC.com and developed a template for your MySpace profile. He posted the article a few years ago but it still works on MySpace profile today. All you have to do is follow his notes, copy, paste and post.

That’s it! Nothing more. Just don’t make the mistake of not changing the image references or you might see this happen.
